                                                  The Road to Our Dreams
                                                           By Brian Eckels

I believe strongly that luck is a factor in helping propel us to our dreams. I also believe that hard work and determination, perseverance and passion are huge factors as well. According to Oprah Winfrey," Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity." This means that we must prepare for the moment, because when we face finally having an opportunity to accomplish our dreams, it is only because of thorough preparation, which is all the hard work and perseverance we put into working toward our dreams.

From my personal experience, I can absolutely guarantee that if you do not work towards your dreams, and work on them each day, you will never make it towards the brass ring. My dreams are not only to finish college with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, but also to become a New York Times Bestselling Author, and a future Tony Award winning singer. I set small goals and break them down into smaller goals each day, so that I can work towards each of them.

For my college dreams, I have been studying hard each day to prepare for this entrance assessment exam. I went and reread my English textbooks, and my math notes from my previous Algebra class. I made sure I was absolutely ready to take on the impossible, which was to pass all of these exams. Then, we also have my experience with writing my novel, that applies to helping me with this essay.

In her quote, Oprah meant that preparation meeting opportunity is what it takes to create luck. In other words, luck does not exist. It is all in how hard we work, and how much effort we put into our dreams that counts. For some people, getting their dream job is as simple as preparing for the interview. For others, it means researching the company history, the past employees' reviews, and other factors important to succeeding on the job. It is all in how one applies oneself toward their dreams that makes it a reality.

I am strong believer in the law of attraction, and in how we shape our own destinies. I believe strongly that if we want something bad enough, we will do whatever it takes to achieve that end result. In other words, it truly is putting our full effort into creating the lives we want. We can't have everything we want unless we put our work into it.

This then, enters into my new point. In order to find opportunities, we must always be vigilant, and we must be determined. And, even if we do not win, or get what we want the first time, perseverance is needed. We need never give up.

If I gave up, right now, because I could not find the words to write for my next chapter in my novel, I would regret it later on. What truly lies deep within, is a heart, a heart full of courage. That heart, that passion, helps us to always be determined to accomplish great things in life. Our dreams are not handed to us on silver plates. We must always be inspired, and always try our best, giving one hundred and ten percent if need be. Then, and only then, will the universe present us our dreams that we have worked so hard to accomplish.

In other words, I do believe this quote.I strongly believe that if it wasn't for all the hard work I have put in, I would never have made it through high school, and I would not be applying for college at this moment. This moment right now determines if I truly have applied myself, and if I have put enough effort into truly succeeding to get into this university. Let Oprah's words ring true:" Luck is a matter of preparation meeting Opportunity." Never give up on your dreams.
